The Blog is Back!

So it's obviously been a really long time since I've posted to the blog, and so much has happened since the last time I posted here! I certainly had no idea back in February of 2009 how much my life would change in a couple of years.

I photographed four weddings in the summer of 2009, making for a very busy summer! And three of the four couples have a little something in common with my husband and I, but more on that later. These are the lovely couples.

Couples

In January of 2010 my husband and I learned that we were expecting our first child! And as you can imagine, since then life has been a roller coaster. But I love roller coasters, so that's cool! My pregnancy went really smoothly and in August of 2010, three weeks before my due date, we were having a garage sale to help clear out some space for our new arrival when he decided to move up his arrival date. Avery Daniel Payne was born, and I've been hooked ever since!

So what do my husband and I have in common with three of those couples I photographed back in 2009? We all have baby boys now! Yep, for a few months I was pregnant at the same time as three of those brides, and we all had boys within a few months of each other! I even did some maternity photos for one of them when Avery was just a few weeks old.

Almost as soon as I returned to work from maternity leave, my husband got an offer we couldn't refuse... a job offer in Florida, that is. We were visiting Florida 2-3 times a year, and we were getting so tired of Illinois winters. It wasn't going to be easy saying good-bye to friends and family, but we made the decision to make the move. And on Thanksgiving Day of 2010, with our 3-month-old, our dog and cat, and my mom in tow, we arrived at our new home in Florida. We sold our house the following spring, but we are still renting a house until we can find and buy the house we want to be in for a long time. I'm also still working for the same wonderful company I worked for in Illinois. I'm just doing it from home now.

This past summer as Avery's first birthday was approaching, I decided it was time for me to get my photography business set up down here in Florida. I really missed shooting, and I was finally starting to feel like I would have enough time to take on some extra work. Aside from filing paperwork and all the other business that needed to be done to make it official, I researched and bought some new props, lighting, and software and had a new logo designed. I offered sessions to my mommy group to get the ball rolling and expand my portfolio, and the website has undergone a major makeover! Here's a few shots from the mommy group sessions.
